Safety

Your safety is our top priority. Here are some reminders to help keep you safe.

In case of an emergency

Call 911 immediately.

Driving Safety

Driving safety

Vehicle checks: Make sure your vehicle is in good condition—check brakes, tires, and lights regularly. Have physical copies of the Vehicle Use Acknowledgement and Certification of Lease documents on you at all times.

Driving tips: Avoid sudden stops and always pull over in a safe location when checking the delivery address.

Weather

Remind your DAs to stay updated on the forecast and adjust their routes and how they dress according to the weather.

Cooler weather

Encourage your team to wear slip-resistant footwear. With wet and icy conditions in some parts of the U.S., it's important to have the proper footwear to decrease the risk of slipping or falling.

Warmer weather

Be mindful of the symptoms of heat-related illness (headaches, dizziness, feeling faint, nausea, or vomiting) and practice prevention to reduce your risk, such as staying hydrated and taking breaks out of the heat. If you have DAs delivering in high temperatures, be sure to regularly check in with them, as wellness checks can help identify symptoms of heat illness.

Theft prevention

If you or your DAs are confronted by someone attempting to steal packages, do not try to stop them. Safely step away from the situation and do not attempt to protect the packages, your and your DA's safety comes first. Here are some tips to prevent theft while delivering:

  • Engage wheel locks on the hand-cart and ensure packages are properly secured.
  • Always maintain visual contact with your tote or hand-cart.
  • When direct supervision isn't possible, park the hand-cart away from pedestrian traffic, in a well lit-secure location, or within view of security cameras, door cameras, or door attendant.

Dog safety

Stay safe by staying aware. Here is how you and your DAs can prevent dog-related incidents while delivering:

Look for warning signs

Look out for the Paw print icon in the Amazon Delivery app to identify delivery locations with dogs. Remind your DAs to contact the customer via the Notify on arrival (NOA) feature in the Amazon Delivery app to push the pre-populated message that lets the customer know a DA arriving and to secure pets.

Report dogs

If a dog is spotted at a stop without a Paw print icon, remind your DAs to report it in the app so future deliveries are flagged.

Stay alert

Remind your DAs to avoid interacting with dogs. Make noise when approaching the delivery location. Always check the app for notes like "Be aware of a dog at this stop."

If a dog bite occurs

For immediate help, call 911. To report the incident:

  • Open the Amazon Delivery app.
  • Click Main menu → Emergency help → Last Mile emergency team to be connected to an agent to share details.

Walking safety

Encourage your DAs to:

  • Walk on the sidewalk whenever possible.
  • Use crosswalks.
  • Carry a flashlight in low-light conditions.
  • Avoid looking down at the Amazon Delivery app while crossing a street.
